Martin’s record company is currently in the process of producing two new albums for release: the first disc titled “alone” will feature a handful of Mayer’s compositions performed by him solo on grand piano.  The second album, which does not yet have a production title, will be a full-length album featuring Martin and his band.  It is an international collaboration project, with team members from Los Angeles, Nashville, Prague, Tokyo and more.  Stay tuned as we keep you updated and bring you samples of what to expect.

The Czech National Radio Orchestra is renowned in Prague for its radio concerts which feature Czech artists and guest appearances by international stars such as Chic Corea.  Conducted by Vaclav Kozel, Martin’s guest appearance on the orchestra’s latest radio concert featured songs “Cabin by the Lake,” “Irish Dancer,” and the new piece “Spanish Nights.”

“Maly Pritel z Mesta ‘N’ “ (the Mouth Organ Boy) is a famous piece in eastern Europe, made famous by Jaromir Mayer (Martin’s dad) who recorded and released the song in the early 1970s as part of his long-spanning career there.  To celebrate the song’s 25 years of popularity, which shot Jaromir to the top of the European charts and steadily kept him there, Martin and Czech superstar Karel Cernoch (pictured left with Martin) have recorded a new Czech-English version of the song as a duet.  The song is a bonus track on Martin’s Czech release of “this is who i am” and sits alongside Jaromir’s original version on his latest hits album, titled with the song’s name.

We all know the results of what happens when we’re careless on the road and behind the wheel.  “Sudden Stop” is a two-part documentary produced by Stimulant Media Strategies that looks at society’s declining awareness of the dangers of the road, including an interview with a Canadian who was left for dead in the BC interior after his car went over the edge along one of Canada’s most deadliest highways.  Martin has been a part of the project, since its first inception as “Road Kill” back in 2002 and penned the soundtrack for the project, produced by Marvin Polis.  Check your local stations for air times.

Shot on location in Canada’s famous Rocky Mountains, the music video “Cabin by the Lake” will soon be available to view in the upcoming onliine multimedia gallery. Directed by David Benson, and produced in partnership with Marvin Polis, the scenic video is set to air on Canadian and American music stations in the fall of 2006.  The DVD will be available for purchase later this year.

A new album is in the works with Martin scheduled to head into the studio for production and recording this summer.  Details of what the album will entail are still being kept hush-hush, but from Mayer’s co-producer Rob Hewes’ outlook, the disc promises to be an “intimate album”, one that will showcase Mayer’s power on the piano; more-so than any album thus far.  Stay tuned for more details.
